Pledge Allegiance to Local Food!
|
Local Food is food produced within the "local foodshed' in the Central Ohio River Valley Watershed within 100 miles of Cincinnati.
Making a 10% shift in buying or producing local food does not mean all of your food has to be local. It just means shifting what you currently eat to include 10% more locally grown and/or produced food.
If 10% of the regional population takes the pledge it will result in over $49,000,000 infused into the local economy and 544 local jobs! Plus, it's better for the environment and a healthier option.
Click here to take the Pledge and learn more about it and Green Umbrella.

Go Green!
Check Out Ann's Green Tip of the Week!
This week Ann will be bringing All-Purpose Cleaner, Disinfectant Spray Cleaner, Glass Cleaner, Sink and Tile Cleaner, Soft Scrub, Air Freshener, Hand Sanitizer, Linen Mist, Disinfectant Wipes (disposable & reusable), Soy Tarts, Tart Warmers, and Soy Candles (all scented with 100% pure essential oils). Organic dog treats will also be available.
GREEN TIP OF THE WEEK: Pure lemon juice is a great way to get rid of a grease build-up. Apply the juice liberally and give it time to cut through the grease. It does work and you also have the added bonus of the fresh smell of lemons. The limonene in the lemon's essential oil is what removes the grease and this also has anti-bacterial properties.

Send an e-mail ( roena@fuse.net ) or call 859-586-7204 if you need large amounts of beans for canning or freezing. Fall vegetables are still available - tomatoes (cherries, red, and green for frying), potatoes, kale, cabbage, peppers (sweet and hot), pumpkins and winter squash. Come early for a few fresh cut flowers, and flowers-in-pumpkins centerpieces. Roena and Charles anticipate Jack Frost will visit their flowers this weekend, so look forward to abundant dried flowers on Saturday, 10/13. they want to thank all who continue to visit thier stand this season!

Greensleeves Farm
Awesome Autumn
Greensleeves Farm will see you at the market this Saturday, and throughout November and early December. This week they will have our eggs, spaghetti and winter squash, peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, potatoes, and Swiss chard.
They want to extend many thanks to all the folks that joined them for their first "Weed Dating" event. The weather was perfect, the food was exquisite, the music fantastic, and the sense of community and connection unsurpassed. It was truly a magical day--you all helped the farm, and they hope being at the farm brought you peace, happiness, and maybe the opportunity to meet someone special! Greensleeves definitely will host more connection events in the future, but you don't have to wait for an invitation. Come see them any Sunday morning, and receive the freshest of produce in exchange for your help, or sign up for a CSA. Again, thank you for supporting Greensleeves Farm, and local food.
