Meet the artist, Guy McIntosh, during Shop Bellevue on Friday, August 5 from 5 to 9 pm at Frame and Hang Studio Gallery. Guy McIntosh has a 40 plus year career as an international, award-winning illustrator and art director. He has spent the last 5 years creating fine art acrylic paintings inspired by the techniques of the great masters such as Rembrandt and Caravaggio.

Guy grew up with a difficult youth in Frank Duveneck's neighborhood while watching his uncle become a successful artist that motivated him to perfect his artistic abilities. Instead of being drafted to go to Vietnam he enlisted in the Air Force in 1968. That experience left him a bit on the wild and crazy side, but with the discipline to focus on college. Through the GI bill he attended NKU and then commercial art school at the Central Academy of Commercial Art in Cincinnati.

After graduation and not finding a job locally, Guy headed to Chicago determined to be a professional illustrator. He took his portfolio and hit Michigan Avenue and two weeks later landed an art director position with Foote Cone + Belding making commercials for companies like Hallmark Hall of Fame, Speed Queen, and Sunkist.  His success took him from Chicago to Seattle, L.A. and everywhere in between with international clients. He finally returned home to work on projects for P&G, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera, Riverbend, and the Fine Arts Fund (now ArtsWave) to name a few.

About ten years ago his desire to create more depth in his art led Guy on a personal journey. He pulled from his career in illustration and pop art and created pop icon portraits with much success, leading him five years ago to study the old masters' techniques of creating light and form, creating a feel of an intimate moment. Guy's art has graced many private and corporate collections in the USA and Europe. Collectors include: Anthony Munoz, Boomer Esiason, Zim Zum (Marilyn Manson's bass player), P&G, F& W Publications along with many more.

Honk, honk - Darkness Brewing is making way for a food truck

This Friday, Darkness Brewing located at 224 Fairfield Avenue will have Andy's Mediterranean Kabobske food truck in their lot from 5pm to 9pm.

See you Friday. Cheers! #kabobske
Our Businesses Care!
You may have heard the dreadful news about the flooding last week along Covert Run in Bellevue. Larry Brondhaver from Avenue Brew heard the news and reached out to other businesses to give back. This past Sunday, they held a giant cookout for the flood victims in their neighborhood.

Though it was a tragedy, we were delighted with the news outlets carrying our feel-good story.
