From Animal to Fabric:
A Spinning Demonstration
We're excited to have spinner and farmer, Brenda Stewart, join us for Shop Bellevue! at Thyme Square located at 420 Fairfield Avenue for a spinning demonstration. You're encouraged to stop by to see how fleece is spun into yarn and ask questions.
Brenda Stewart lives in a log home on a farm in California, Kentucky with her husband, Richard, and 12-year old daughter Becca.
The art of spinning wool and fiber has always fascinated her and after taking a spinning lesson almost two years ago, she was hooked and there was no turning back. Three spinning wheels and many pounds of raw material later, she is still at it!
Living on a farm enables her to have some of her own fiber animals, so she is adding five wonderful Alpacas to her family. Once their pasture is ready, the alpacas will be coming to their new home this spring. She is hoping to also add some sheep and goats in the near future.
Brenda just loves taking a dirty fleece and turning it into something a craftsperson can use to make into a fabulous finished project.
Sure, you can hop in your car to get to Fairfield Avenue, but you may also want to consider walking, riding your bicycle or taking a TANK bus or the Southbank Shuttle. http://www.tankbus.org/
It's hip, it's green, and you're bound to meet great people along the way.
