A Chili Master Has Been Crowned!

Congratulations to Avenue Brew for receiving the most votes during The Avenue's "Chili Crawl" on October 20th--their White Chicken Chili was a huge hit.  The rainy, nasty day did not keep true chili fans from coming out and also sampling tasty creations from The Bellevue Bistro, The Elusive Cow, Siam Orchid, and Twisted Sisters.  Lots of crawlers left this fun event with smiles on their face, full bellies, and spots on their shirts!

The Art of Jason Erler
Private Mythology vs. Biography as written by Jason Erler
I have never tried to make a big deal about being a self-taught artist. I have always been an artist. I always will be. I'm not interested in the ideas of the so-called conceptual approach to creation.
I create because of my relationship with the source. And the source has no concept.
It would be like the ocean thinking of a cup.
I'm more interested in the actual history of artists themselves.
Their minds. Their artistic desires. The mythology they created so they could cope with the imagery that had to be produced.
Had to be.
This is how to learn about art. How to grow as an artist. By looking at those that told the immortal stories that haunt all of our dreams through any artistic medium. Their private mythology becomes public. Even if we do not (or refuse to) understand it, it still connects us to the source.
When we look at art in this light it might become clear that the life story that led me to this line of reasoning is irrelevant. Where I grew up, or went to school. My hardships and joys. The artists I endorse or despise. What I look like or how I dress. All have no relevance. What is relevant is the story or mythology I have created to share with the viewer and if you connect with it. If you do then my shamanistic duty to help connect you to the source has succeeded.
