It's First Friday - Lets Celebrate Local Heroes!

Night of Heroes poster
Oftentimes, the first "heroes" that come to mind are police officers, fire fighters, and those who serve our country in the armed forces--all of whom certainly deserve the "Hero" label.  However, heroes come in many forms.  You'll find them throughout your community -- those very special people who make a genuine difference in the lives of others.  Bellevue celebrates allHeroes tonight!

Who is YOUR local hero?

Nominations can also be made in person at participating In Vue businesses.  Online and in-person nominations must be made by Saturday, April 9 by 4 pm. The Winning Hero will be announced on "Super Heroes Day", April 16th, and will receive a key to the city!

Bethany Rose Pottery Featured at Frame and Hang Studio Gallery

The opening gallery reception featuring the work of Bethany Kramer, ceramic artist, teacher, and owner of Bethany Rose Pottery LLC is on Friday, April 1 from 5 to 9 pm at Frame and Hang Studio Gallery located at 401 Fairfield Avenue.

Bethany received her BFA from Northern Kentucky University in 2007, concentrating in ceramics.  Ever since Bethany took her first pottery class at NKU, she has worked hard to carve out her ceramic path.  She has displayed her work in several local gallery shows, and has exhibited her work in even more local, well respected art fairs like the Hyde Park Art Show and The Clay Alliance Spring Pottery Fair in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Art in the Park in Bellevue, Kentucky where she was awarded 1st Place for Fine Craft in 2015.  Also in the summer of 2015, Bethany was a featured artist in the international magazine, Where Women Create, published by Stampington and Company.  Recently, Bethany has collaborated with local chefs, creative designers, photographers, and other artists to expand on her work.  Some of this work can be experienced at several locations in Cincinnati, Ohio, including the well acclaimed Salazar's in Over the Rhine, Mita's (also created by chef/owner Jose Salazar) and Nada.  Not only can you eat off one of her taco plates at the newly opened Nada in Indianapolis, but you can see some of her unique glaze work on the facing brick throughout different areas of the restaurant.   Her collaboration with different chef/owners has led her to her latest work with Frida 602 in Covington, KY.  While developing her line of restaurant work, individual place settings, and one of a kind serving wares, Bethany works at Queen City Clay, a large ceramic studio in Cincinnati, Ohio.  She has helped to manage the studio, coordinate workshops and events, and currently teaches beginning and advanced level classes.

See more of her work at www.bethanykramer.com.  Follow Bethany on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/BethanyRosePottery/and on Instagram @bethanyrosepottery.

Art IN VUE
Frame and Hang Studio Gallery invites you to the opening night of their new show featuring Melissa Yeazell.  Melissa has been expressing herself through art for as long as she can remember. Her current media choices include acrylic on canvas, watercolor, and glass repurposing.

Her paintings express her emotions in the present moment, usually through intense colors and brush strokes and occasionally with words. She gives color to her hopes, successes, anxieties, hesitations, and stories of her heart and grounds them on the canvas. Her process is quick, covering the canvas with color. She then rotates the canvas 90 degrees once, twice, and sometimes three times, each view speaking to her differently on a soul level. The final expression might represent a figure or a place or an animal or whatever her soul desires, leaving her essence on the canvas.

Her glass work has been a new adventure in self-expression. The glass, spanning from the 1940s to 1980s, was discovered in a creek bed on the golf course that she tends to every day. The glass was used to shore up the sides of the creek. Each piece of glass she works with has a story, and she adds new glass or oil paint to give it new life that adds luster in many forms.
