Pledge Allegiance to Local Food!
|
Local Food is food produced within the "local foodshed' in the Central Ohio River Valley Watershed within 100 miles of Cincinnati.
Making a 10% shift in buying or producing local food does not mean all of your food has to be local. It just means shifting what you currently eat to include 10% more locally grown and/or produced food.
If 10% of the regional population takes the pledge it will result in over $49,000,000 infused into the local economy and 544 local jobs! Plus, it's better for the environment and a healthier option.

The surest way to protect your family from the dangers of toxic synthetic chemicals is to choose products made of safe natural ingredients. Add essential oil and it's like aromatherapy every time you clean with the added benefits of being antibacterial, anti fungal, and antiviral.

Turner Farm
Oh, Organic!
Turner Farm been busy hauling in potatoes (more than 1500 lbs so far - more reds and russets on Thursday) and hoeing their 2 acre pumpkin field. That's the one that that panoramic picture was taken of that ran in this e-newsletter a few weeks ago. They've been able to take the horses through the aisles until now, as the vines started to run last week. So it's all by hand now. Quite a daunting task!! Their tomatoes have come back now that the heat wave after-effects are behind us and they also have some wonderful sweet corn - a new yellow variety that is just delicious, and big ears too. They'll have basil and peppers and a big squash sale. Beans are back... It's going to be a great spread.
