Pledge Allegiance to Local Food!
Local Food Pledge
Local Food is food produced within the "local foodshed' in the Central Ohio River Valley Watershed within 100 miles of Cincinnati.
Making a 10% shift in buying or producing local food does not mean all of your food has to be local. It just means shifting what you currently eat to include 10% more locally grown and/or produced food.

If 10% of the regional population takes the pledge it will result in over $49,000,000 infused into the local economy and 544 local jobs!  Plus, it's better for the environment and a healthier option.

Click here to take the Pledge and learn more about it and Green Umbrella.

Shady Grove Farm will not be at Market this Saturday. Just not enough tomatoes in the right color! But please note that Nancy will have local pasture-fed beef available for sale, beginning Saturday, September 22. USDA-processed retail cuts, no antibiotics, steroids or hormones. There will be more pasture-fed goat meat for sale in October, and for the very newest farm event check out their blog and Facebook pages.

The Farm at Holiday Harbor
That's a lot of veggies!
Jess's watermelon They've been blessed here at the Farm at Holiday Harbor with an abundance of the most beautiful, delicious beans they have ever tasted!  Blue Lake, Jade, French Filet, Half-Runners, Italian beans and more.  They also have an abundance of very tasty tomatoes they've ever grown - people keep coming back and telling us how delicious they are - and all are pesticide free.  If you need beans or tomatoes for canning, see Jesse this Saturday at the market to order yours. Don't forget all the other beautiful produce they will have available from peppers, potatoes, zucchinis, squashes and more.  The melons are coming on strong and will be available soon!

Turner Farm
Oh, Organic!
Carrots from Turners
Turner Farm been busy hauling in potatoes (more than 1500 lbs so far - more reds and russets on Thursday) and hoeing their 2 acre pumpkin field.  That's the one that that panoramic picture was taken of that ran in this e-newsletter a few weeks ago. They've been able to take the horses through the aisles until now, as the vines started to run last week.  So it's all by hand now.  Quite a daunting task!!  Their tomatoes have come back now that the heat wave after-effects are behind us and they also have some wonderful sweet corn - a new yellow variety that is just delicious, and big ears too.  They'll have basil and peppers and a big squash sale.  Beans are back... It's going to be a great spread.

Neltner's Farm & Greenhouses

Veggies

They will have tomatoes, peaches, preserves from Claire's Kitchen, squash, cucumbers, onions, peppers, eggplant, and potatoes.
