Pledge Allegiance to Local Food!
|
Local Food is food produced within the "local foodshed' in the Central Ohio River Valley Watershed within 100 miles of Cincinnati.
Making a 10% shift in buying or producing local food does not mean all of your food has to be local. It just means shifting what you currently eat to include 10% more locally grown and/or produced food.
If 10% of the regional population takes the pledge it will result in over $49,000,000 infused into the local economy and 544 local jobs! Plus, it's better for the environment and a healthier option.
Click here to take the Pledge and learn more about it and Green Umbrella.

Greetings!
Please find our farmers in their same location until November 10. After that, you'll find them on Saturday closer to the store. Wednesdays we'll continue to provide the market year round inside The Party Source.
Supporting our local farmers provides you with healthy tasty food, builds relationships, is fun, is a way to learn about what to do with local food, supports our local economy, is environmentally friendly and so much more. Visit the market and find out more.

Shady Grove Farm
Beef and Wreaths
|
Just like Nancy's - you, too, can make this scrumptious meal! |
This Saturday will be Shady Grove Farm's last at regular Market. The garden has been amazing thru September & October, but even amazing lives come to an end. This week there will be radishes, greens, endives, rapini, a few late chiles (Anaheim, Cayenne & Poblano) and the last of September's local, pasture-raised beef. That includes ground chuck, T-bones (you can make several meals out of one. Ask Nancy how), sirloin strip, brisket, liver, short ribs, cube steaks & rib steaks.
Goat meat from Summer is sold out, but there may be some available in December. Email Nancy if interested.
Looking ahead to the Holidays: order a door-size* wreath of all-natural greenery, $35, for pickup at The Party Source the Saturday after Thanksgiving (that would be the 24th). I'll send a reminder. Wreaths are made of white pine, blue spruce, blue berry juniper ("Cedar"), magnolia & boxwood. Also greenery by the stem, $10 for a bucket of mixed varieties, 20 stems minimum. *Other size wreaths by request.
Please note materials are limited to what Nature provided this year despite drought, heat, windstorm etc. from this farm and immediate neighbors. For specific varieties, reserve early.
Thank you for a great season!
Nancy's blog provides you with insight into life on the farm, recipes, and much more!

Go Green!
Check Out Ann's Green Tip of the Week!
This week Ann will have new gift baskets of all-natural soy tarts scented for the holidays, Holiday Wreath & Flowers, Buttery Pumpkin Spice, Gingerbread, Cinnamon and Spice, Eggnog, and Santa's Sugar Cookies.
Also available: All-Purpose cleaner, Disinfectant cleaner, Glass cleaner, Sink and Tile cleaner, Soft Scrub, Disinfectant wipes, Dishwashing disks, Soy candles and tarts, tart warmers, and Organic Dog treats.
GREEN TIP OF THE WEEK: Stock up on fresh veggies!
It takes 3 billion kWh of energy per year to produce canned vegetables. Instead of frozen or canned vegetables, serve fresh potatoes and yams for Thanksgiving dinner!
In order to protect inventory, Ann will not be at the market during inclement weather.
