Pledge Allegiance to Local Food!
Local Food Pledge
Local Food is food produced within the "local foodshed' in the Central Ohio River Valley Watershed within 100 miles of Cincinnati.
Making a 10% shift in buying or producing local food does not mean all of your food has to be local. It just means shifting what you currently eat to include 10% more locally grown and/or produced food.

If 10% of the regional population takes the pledge it will result in over $49,000,000 infused into the local economy and 544 local jobs!  Plus, it's better for the environment and a healthier option.

Click here to take the Pledge and learn more about it and Green Umbrella.

Gretchen's Eggplant
Oh, that lovely rain!!  Come harvest day on Friday, we will have lots of happy veggies to share with you!

We will be at both markets with crunchy peppers, baby potatoes, okra, lovely beans (Kentucky Wonder, Scarlett Runner, Fortex, Red Noodle, Provider, and Purple Sequoia), baby beets and turnips, all the crops transitioning into fall.  On Wednesday we will bring 8 pounds of peppers and 10 bulbs of garlic, as our cvontribution to the Women Farmer celebration dinner at Grailville.  Register online and join us for a fun and meaningful day, this Sunday.

On the following Sunday, 9/30, come enjoy more Greensleeves food as prepared by Chef Stephen Williams of Bouquet Restaurant and Wine Bar and the musical talents of Tony and Friends at Weed Dating!  The weeds are growing, and so is the event!  No longer just for singles looking to find romance amid the bean plants, the event is open to everyone willing to help a little on the farm.  We've got a great place, nothing fancy, just a farm for folks that care about the earth and the food it produces.  Check out the Greensleeves Farm page on Facebook for more information, and register early.

As a reminder:
Gretchen hit the waves.  The WNKU airwaves that is on September 13th, but should air on September 24th.

More big news from Greensleeves Farm.  Because of their growing reputation as a CSA and COMMUNITY farm, the Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture will be visiting Greensleeves on Friday October 5!  Gretchen said, "You could have knocked me over with a feather, except I was harvesting pole beans and held onto the trellis!"  The commissioner will visit Stonebrook Winery first, come to Greensleeves, then to the Woolfest.  So, Gretchen is asking you to please look at your schedules and see if you are able to come help at the farm that Friday morning, to demonstrate that YOU are people that believe in what they are doing, growing great fresh food and educating others, and are willing to work hard to make it happen!
